Wasaya Airways (WP, Pickle Lake) will take delivery of the world's first Dash 8-100 P2F-converted freighter next month after it has completed all regulatory approvals with Transport Canada.
During an unveiling ceremony on April 20, the carrier confirmed C-GANF (msn 42) is one of two aircraft of the type it would be acquiring from Voyageur Aviation Corp.
“The addition of the Dash 8-100PF is an innovative game changer and an essential strategic advantage for Wasaya in our new business model,” Michael Rodyniuk, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wasaya, said in a statement. “The Dash 8-100PF is built and converted here in Canada, designed for our rugged environment and perfectly suited to move cargo into and out of our remote communities with short, unimproved, gravel airfields."
The Dash 8-100 PF (Package Freighter) is designed to carry a typical payload of 4,500 kilograms and a volume of 39 cubic meters.
Wasaya Airways LP is a regional Canadian carrier owned by twelve First Nations tribes. It operates one Dash 8-300, seven Beech 1900Ds, four PC-12s, three BAe 748s and four Cessna (single turboprop) 208Bs on scheduled and chartered passenger flights across Northwestern Ontario.
