China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has given the China National Aviation Holding Company (CNAHC) permission to pursue a mixed-ownership strategy in regards to its air freight logistics operations.

In a Shanghai bourse filing last week, CNAHC unit Air China (CA, Beijing Capital) said that as it, along with some of its subordinate companies, are engaged in air freight logistics, they, too, may pursue similar mixed-ownership revisions. The airline's Air China Cargo (CA, Beijing Capital) unit currently operates three B747-400(FSCD)s, four B757-200(PCF)s, and eight B777-Fs on freighter flights spanning the globe.

"As at the date of this announcement, it is learned that CNAHC has not formulated any enforceable and specific implementation plan for the mixed-ownership reform and has not reached any form of agreement or arrangement with any person," it said.

Beijing aims to leverage private capital's managerial expertise to transform its extensive portfolio of loss-making, state-owned enterprises. As reported earlier this month, China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) has already been selected for Phase 1 of the project.
