Link PNG (Port Moresby) has announced that its Goroka schedule will be affected by airport closures scheduled for weekends in May. The Air Niugini subsidiary says that Saturday flights from Port Moresby to Goroka will be completely suspended for the month, while Sunday's flight has been moved to midday.

The main runway at Goroka has been undergoing repairs since late last year as part of a PGK82 million (USD25.8 million) airport upgrade, funded by the Asian Development Bank. May's closure will allow additional work to be carried out on the secondary airstrip, which has been serving as the main runway.

No official announcement has been seen to indicate if PNG Air (CG, Port Moresby), which also operates out of Goroka, will also adjust its schedule during the works period.

Link PNG usually operates 2x daily services between Port Moresby and Goroka. Link PNG's fleet comprises four Dash 8-200 and three Dash 8-300 aircraft.
