GoAir (Mumbai International) has decided to postpone the launch of its international operations, due to delays in the delivery of its A320neos. The Business Standard reports that international flights will not launch before winter 2017/18.

GoAir has so far taken delivery of five A320neos out of a firm order of 144 of the type. Deliveries have been delayed due to known problems with the neo's Pratt & Whitney PW1100G powerplants.

CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer told The Business Standard that GoAir is now a few months behind its schedule. "The second half of the year will lead to normalisation of our original plan," Prock-Schauer said. "We are quite confident of the measures taken by the manufacturer to rectify the faults. Hopefully, after it becomes normal, we can pick up according to our original plan of expansion."

In mid-2016, the Indian low cost carrier was awarded international traffic rights to Tehran Imam Khomeini, Guangzhou, Kunming Changshui, Ho Chi Minh City, Malé, Baku Heydar Aliev International, Tashkent International, Doha Hamad International, and Dammam (Saudi-Arabia).

Domestically, GoAir is increasing its capacity by operating more frequent flights. Prock aims to increase the number of flights by 20% this year, up to 205 daily flights across its network of 23 destinations.
