VLM Airlines (Slovenia) (Maribor) has secured its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Slovenian Civil Aviation Agency allowing it to carry passengers and cargo using a Fokker 50 OO-VLN (msn 20145).

As previously reported, VLM Airlines Slovenia is a sister carrier of VLM Airlines (Antwerp) (Antwerp) and both have the backing of SHS Antwerp Aviation NV. This latter company, which is 60% Dutch and 40% Canadian owned, has taken ownership of Maribor Edvars Rusjan Airport in northeastern Slovenia, which is where the Slovenian carrier will be based.

Slovenian news site Vecer reports that VLM Airlines Slovenia plans to launch flights from Maribor to London, Berlin, Hamburg Helmut Schmidt, Barcelona El Prat, Zurich, Belgrade and Split in Europe, as well as Xi'an Xianyang, Chongqing and Nanchang International in China. VLM will also offer charter services in cooperation with Belgian virtual charter operator VizionAir (Antwerp).
