PowdAir (Sion) has announced it will employ capacity sourced from Danish ACMI/charter capacity provider BackBone Aviation (Esbjerg) when it launches later this year.

The start-up carrier said in a statement its agreement includes the provision of two 50-seater Bombardier Aerospace CRJ200s.

Effective December 14, PowdAir will begin running regular flights to Sion in Switzerland from each of Antwerp (Belgium) as well as Bristol International, Edinburgh, London Southend, Southampton, London Luton, and Manchester International in the United Kingdom. From Sion, passengers will then be able to the Swiss ski resort towns of Verbier, Crans-Montana, Zermatt, Veysonnaz, and Nendaz.

This run is expected to last for the duration of the winter season which ends on April 16, 2018. Thereafter, PowdAir says it is in the process of developing summer routes as well.
