First Air (Carp) is planning to secure B757-200(PF) capacity on an ad-hoc basis to boost its freight capacity into Kuujjuaq, the largest northern settlement in Nunavik, Quebec.

In a statement, First Air said the B757, sourced from Cargojet Airways (W8, Hamilton, ON), would operate into Kuujjuaq on a monthly basis supplementing the increased B737-400(M) flights from Montréal Trudeau it will run from August 24 onwards.

"These new service offerings will add over 100,000lbs of additional monthly cargo capacity into Kuujjuaq while also adding over 300 seats each way a month for the community," it said.

For its part, First Air also operates two ARJ-85s, three ATR42-300s, four ATR42-300(QC)s, six ATR42-500s, one B737-400, and three B737-400(C)s on schedules flights from Ottawa International, Montreal, Winnipeg International and Edmonton International to communities in Canada's Arctic.
