Kazakhstan's Astana Nursultan Nazarbayev and Shymkent airports will run to restricted timetables while work is carried out on their respective runways.

For Astana, which serves the Kazakh capital, the airport will be closed to air traffic between 09:00 to 16:00 from September 15 to 24. Most carriers have rescheduled the flights to accommodate the scheduled closure. Astana sees approximately 120 arrivals and departures each day.

Shimkent, capital of the South Kazakhstan Region, will have restrictions in place until October 5. Analysis of schedule data shows that most carriers have rescheduled their flights to before 9:00 and after 18:00.

Russian Aviation Insider reports that the closures will enable the airports to carry out works to prepare for winter operations.
