Alitalia's bankruptcy administrators have extended the deadline for the submission of binding offers for Alitalia (AZA, Rome Fiumicino) and Alitalia CityLiner (CYL, Rome Fiumicino) to allow interested parties more time to prepare their respective proposals.

A statement issued last week states the offers which were due by October 2, have now been given until October 16. The additional time will allow bidders greater time to peruse Alitalia's data room. However, the November 5 deadline for the completion of the next procedural phase remains unchanged.

The administrators are hoping to dispose of the bankrupt airline as a complete unit for which preference will be given. However, cognizant of the realities of Alitalia's prospects, its flight operations (including MRO) and ground handling services have been offered up as separate entities.
