Air France (AF, Paris CDG) has given up its London Heathrow-Los Angeles route by the end of the summer timetable and handed over the slot pair at Heathrow to joint venture partner Delta Air Lines (DL/Atlanta) for an additional daily London Heathrow-New York JFK roundtrip. It has secured traffic rights that would allow it to launch a daily service between Paris CDG and Tokyo Haneda in fall 2010 as part of the new France-Japan bilateral agreement. It will launch twice daily service from Paris Orly to Berne on January 19 using Airlinair (A5/Paris Orly) ATR 42-500s. Air France has confirmed plans for a joint venture with French transportation group Veolia to launch joint high-speed rail services from Paris CDG to Amsterdam and London in fall 2010. It has temporarily suspended its codeshare agreement with China Eastern Airlines (MU/Shanghai Hongqiao) between Paris CDG and Shanghai Pu Dong for the winter season. In other news, it has intensified its cooperation with Air Mauritius (MK/Mauritius) to now include connections via Mauritius and Paris CDG to other destinations in Europe and Southern Africa.
