AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2, Baku Heydar Aliev International) has ordered five more B787-8s from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) the US manufacturer has announced during the ongoing 2017 Dubai Airshow.

"Ordering additional 787 Dreamliner airplanes will greatly expand our airline's capabilities, allowing us to serve new destinations and carry more passengers," AZAL President Jahangir Askerov said in a joint communique.

Deliveries are scheduled for 2019-2020.

AZAL currently operates a pair of B787-8s alongside three B767-300(ER)s.

In tandem to the B787 order, the Azeri national carrier has also committed to "two large freighters" said to be either B747-8(F)s or B777-Fs. Their purchase will be finalized "at a later time", Boeing said.
