ImagineAir (Lawrenceville) plans to double its current fleet of fourteen single-piston Cirrus SR22s and establish itself as a major player in the air taxi service market on the US East Coast, CEO Ben Hamilton said during the US Corporate Aviation Summit.

As reported by AIN Online, Hamilton wants the company to continue competing primarily with road transport rather than with other airlines.

Imagine Air currently serves over a 1,000 airports in the eastern part of the United States and plans to first fully saturate this market before expanding nationwide. After initial struggles, the company found out that thanks to dynamic pricing it can fill up its three-seater SR22s at a satisfactory level.

Hamilton sees no need for the company to acquire jet aircraft since the single-piston SR22s provide a good mixture of safety, luxury and cost-effectiveness.
