S7 Group, the owner of S7 Airlines (S7, Novosibirsk), has lodged a complaint with the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) against domestic fuel suppliers. The aviation group accused them of collusion which drives fuel prices up.
"There are only three oil companies: Rosneft, Gazprom Neft and Lukoil. I believe that this is a conspiracy because the prices are simply prohibitive. It is clear why - they began to supply less abroad, they lost income and they still want to have the same incomes and fight back against us", S7 Group co-owner Natalya Fileva has told TASS newswire.
The FAS received the complaint on December 1 and gave the fuel suppliers until December 15 to explain their pricing strategies, business news agency Prime reported.
According to the Vedomosti newspaper, the jet fuel price for domestic services at Moscow airports has grown by 23% since June 2017, reaching a current price of over RUB43,000 (USD735) per tonne.
While IATA data confirm that jet fuel prices are going up, the rate of increase is slower than the one recorded in Moscow. According to IATA, the global average price has increased by 21.7% since December 2016.
