Karun Airlines (KRU, Ahwaz) has added a first B737-500 to its existing fleet of four Fokker 100s and six Fokker 50s.

Skyliner Aviation reports Ukrainian ACMI/charter specialist Khors Aircompany (Kyiv Boryspil) positioned UR-CPO (msn 28919) to Tehran Mehrabad on December 8. The aircraft subsequently started operating for Karun on a wet-lease basis on December 16 running flights between Mehrabad and its Ahwaz base.

Previously known as Iranian Air Transport and then Naft Airlines, Karun Airlines focuses primarily on the Iranian domestic market with Dubai International, and tentatively Yerevan, its only international destinations.

For its part, Khors Air Company has several other Iranian wet-lease clients including Kish Air and ATA Airlines (Iran).
