Small Planet Airlines (Vilnius) will enter the Scandinavian charter market in summer 2018 with the opening of bases at Stockholm Arlanda, Sweden, as well as Chania, Greece.
The Lithuanian charter specialist said in a statement it will cooperate with Scandinavian tour operators and fly from Stockholm to destinations in Albania, Croatia, Greece, and the Canary Islands from April 2018. Operations are on-board a pair of A320-200s.
"Small Planet Airlines chose the Greek island of Crete as its new base due to its geographical location that will enable the airline to expand its route-map and reach multiple Scandinavian airports from one base in the Mediterranean," it said.
In summer 2018, Small Planet also plans to operate out of Copenhagen Kastrup and Paris CDG.
The Small Planet Group includes Lithuania-based Small Planet Airlines, Small Planet Airlines Polska, Small Planet Airlines Germany, and the recently certified Small Planet Airlines Cambodia. According to the ch-aviation airline module, the group's total fleet currently consists of eighteen A320s and four A321s although this will grow to twenty-eight aircraft in summer 2018 following the addition of at least six A320 family aircraft. According to Small Planet's Head of Marketing, Simonas Bartkus, the six aircraft will be a mix of A320s and A321s.
