The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has reissued a commuter air carrier authorization to LIMA NY Corp., doing business as Fly The Whale (New York Skyports SPB), effective November 29, 2017. The carrier intends to launch scheduled operations in Florida, starting on January 8, 2018, according to its website.

Fly The Whale received its initial authorization on July 20, 2016, according to the DOT filing. The carrier failed to launch operations within a legal limit of one year and in August 2017 received a 90-day waiver extending the validity of the authorization. It then applied for two more 30-day waivers until finally providing all necessary documents in November 2017.

According to the carrier's website, its fleet consists of a Cessna (single turboprop) 208 Amphibian and a Cessna (single turboprop) 208B Grand Caravan.

Fly The Whale intends to operate out of New York, in Florida and the Caribbean. According to the carrier's website, scheduled operations will commence on January 8, 2018, and consist of 2x weekly Fort Pierce International-Tallahassee service. So far no details have been revealed regarding scheduled operations out of New York.
