Air Deccan (DKN, Nashik) is reportedly planning to launch flights between Kolkata and Durgapur which would become the first scheduled operations out of the latter airport after an hiatus of more than six months.

The Times of India reports the service is expected to be operated with Beech 1900D equipment and could be extended to Bagdogra at a later date. Air Deccan was granted the route authority during the first round of the UDAN scheme, an Indian government plan to subsidise operations to under- or unserved airports across the country.

Durgapur airport, in West Bengal, has not seen any scheduled operations since Zoom Air (India) (ZOM, Delhi International) cancelled its Delhi International service in July 2017.

Air Deccan is also reportedly considering UDAN services out of Kolkata to Jamshedpur, Cooch Behar, and Rourkela. Currently, none of these three airports sees any scheduled operations. For its part, Air India is reportedly considering relaunching Durgapur-Delhi operations which it cancelled in 2016.

Air Deccan launched operations at the end of December and currently flies on the Nashik-Mumbai International, Mumbai-Jalgaon, and Nashik-Pune routes.
