Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) will launch a new Reykjavik Keflavik-Kansas City International service on May 25, 2018, thus becoming the Missourian gateway's maiden intercontinental route.
The Icelandic carrier said in a statement flights will operate 3x weekly with B757-200 equipment and are scheduled as a seasonal summer service.
According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Icelandair currently operates 50 weekly flights to nine airports in the United States: Boston, New York JFK, Seattle Tacoma International, Chicago O'Hare, New York Newark, Washington Dulles, Denver International, Orlando International, and Tampa International. It also flies out of its main base at Reykjavik Keflavik to each of Vancouver International and Toronto Pearson.
At present, Kansas City Int'l only sees continental services with the largest carriers at the airport being Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, and United Airlines. Its only international destinations are Toronto Pearson and Cancún.
