Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) has informed the Austrian administrators of bankrupt Niki (Austria) (Vienna) on January 15 that it still is interested in acquiring part of the airline's assets. The renewed interest stems from an earlier court ruling which may overturn an earlier decision to sell the majority of Niki's assets to IAG International Airlines Group.

According to Reuters, the Irish LCC did not specify which assets it is interested in. Niki Lauda, the company's founder, had also said that he is prepared to resubmit a bid together with Thomas Cook Group and Condor.

A Berlin regional court ruled last week that Niki's bankruptcy proceedings should have been conducted in Austria rather than in Germany. It stated that while the airline was a part of airberlin group and generated most of its revenue in Germany, it was de-facto run from Vienna. This effectively invalidated all decisions taken with regard to Niki by the German-appointed administrator, including Niki's sale to IAG for EUR20 million (USD24.5 million).
