American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) is set to expand its metropolitan shuttle service to include Chicago. The carrier said in a press release that effective April 4, 2018, it would run fifteen flights each weekday between New York La Guardia and Chicago O'Hare. Operations are onboard B737-800 equipment. Given the flights are aimed at the business segment, complimentary beer and wine will be served in the Main Cabin.

“When you fly frequently for work, anything that can make the regular commute more comfortable is important,” said Alison Taylor, Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Distribution. “That’s why we’re pleased to offer valuable time-saving opportunities with our Shuttle, including a convenient and consistent schedule and extended check-in times for you and your bag.”

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, for the week ending January 28, 2018, out of the 35,523 weekly seats available in the La Guardia-Chicago O'Hare market, American controls the largest proportion (15,305 or 43.08%) followed by United Airlines with 12,131 (34.15%), Delta Air Lines with 6,057 (17.05%), and Spirit Airlines with 2,030 seats/week (5.71%). However, in terms of weekly services, United offers the most connections (109) followed by American with 95, Delta with 82, and Spirit with 14.

American's other Shuttle services run from La Guardia to each of Boston and Washington National as well as between Washington National and Boston using a combination of with A319-100, E190, E175 aircraft.
