Eurowings (EW, Düsseldorf) will base one B737-800 wet-leased from TUI fly (Germany) (X3, Hannover) out of Nuremberg effective March 25, 2018. The Southern German airport will become the twelfth base of the Lufthansa Group low-cost subsidiary.

The carrier will launch new routes out of Nuremberg to Palma de Mallorca (8x weekly), Catania (2x weekly), Olbia (2x weekly), and Irakleion (2x weekly).

Eurowings will also increase the frequency of flights to Berlin Tegel from the current 13x weekly to 14x.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, the German LCC currently also operates out of Nuremberg to Düsseldorf (22x weekly), Hamburg Helmut Schmidt (22x weekly), and Vienna (11x weekly). It is the second-largest airline at the airport by capacity with 19.8% market share, trailing behind Ryanair (24.5% market share). Nuremberg is also served by Lufthansa, Air France, and Germania, among others.

Eurowings is currently wet-leasing six B737-800s from TUI fly. The contract, inherited by Eurowings from Air Berlin (1991), has been signed for three years, Airliners.de has reported. The airline is also leasing one Boeing twinjet from SunExpress Deutschland.
