WestJet (WS, Calgary) has announced it has delayed the launch of its regional brand, WestJet Link, to June 2018. Announced in November of last year as a capacity purchase agreement with Pacific Coastal Airlines (8P, Vancouver International), WestJet Link was to have launched in March with Saab 340B-operated flights from Calgary to towns across Alberta and British Columbia.

In a statement issued on January 31, WestJet said Pacific Coastal was still in the process of meeting its operational requirements thereby warranting the deferral.

"WestJet apologizes to our guests for the inconvenience these delays may cause," Brian Znotins, WestJet Vice-President (Network Planning, Alliances & Corporate Development), said. "Impacted guests are being offered several different options including alternative transportation to Calgary to embark on their travel from there, obtaining a full refund or changing the date of travel."

Once operational, WestJet Link will eventually serve each of Lethbridge, Lloydminster, Medicine Hat, Cranbrook, and Prince George.
