PSA Airlines (OH, Dayton James M. Cox) has announced it will open two new bases at Philadelphia International and Norfolk International, VA in May 2018, adding to its existing five bases in Central and Eastern United States, Aviation Insider has reported.
"This is exciting news for PSA as we grow our operations and make smart additions to our network of crew bases to ensure top-notch performance for our customers," Vice President Air Operations Keith Stamper said.
The regional capacity provider and a subsidiary of American Airlines already serves both airports. According to the ch-aviation schedules module, it flies to 18 destinations out of Philadelphia, a major hub for American Airlines, on behalf of its parent under the American Eagle brand. It plans to more than double its capacity out of the airport after the base is launched in May 2018.
The carrier's offer out of Norfolk is limited to three destinations: Charlotte International, Philadelphia, and Washington National. The airport already is a PSA's overnight maintenance station.
PSA Airlines did not disclose how many Bombardier Aerospace regional jets it plans to base out of each of the airports. The airline currently bases its aircraft out of Dayton James M. Cox, Cincinnati International, Knoxville McGhee Tyson, Washington National, and Charlotte.
