Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) will initially operate its new service out of Doha Hamad International to Cardiff, Wales 5x weekly, instead of the planned 7x, due to "a slight delay in aircraft deliveries", the BBC has reported.

The service, due to commence on May 1, 2018, will become the sole scheduled long-haul flight out of the Welsh airport. The Qatari carrier plans to start operating the route 7x weekly as planned from June 18. Service will be onboard B787-8 equipment.

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Qatar Airways currently operates thirty B787-8s. The carrier has also ordered a further thirty B787-9s from Boeing, of which none has so far been delivered.
