Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) has signed a code-share agreement with Cotai Water Jet, an operator of high-speed ferries between Hong Kong and Macau in order to improve the connectivity between the two Special Administrative Regions of China.

Effective February 28, 2018, the airline will place its CX code on six daily ferry services leaving directly from the SkyPier at the Hong Kong International airport and going to Macau's Taipa Ferry Terminal. Passengers who depart from SkyPier do not need to clear Hong Kong's immigration. Initially, the service will only be available for passengers travelling from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States, but will later be expanded to include the whole of Cathay Pacific's network.

Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok and Macau International, located less than 40 kilometres apart, do not have any direct air connections.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Cathay Pacific currently offers 1,009 weekly departures out of Hong Kong, 25.45% of all. Its regional unit Cathay Dragon operates a further 603 departures out of the airport. For its part, Macau Int'l is dominated by Air Macau, which operates 255 weekly departures, 43% of all.
