Western Global Airlines (KD, Fort Myers Southwest Florida) has secured exemption authority from the US Department of Transportation apropos its application to expand its scheduled cargo authority to encompass all nations with which the United States has Open Skies agreements. The clearance is valid from February 12, 2018, through to February 12, 2020.

"We have also decided to grant to Western Global exemption authority to serve Brunei Darussalam, Chile, the Cook Islands, New Zealand, Samoa, Singapore, and Tonga, each a signatory to the Multilateral Agreement on the Liberalization of International Air Transportation (MALIAT)," the DOT said.

Western Global's application for a more permanent Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to operate the same services has been deferred to allow the DOT more time to study its merits.
