AirAsia Group has no plans to acquire any Boeing (BOE, Washington National) widebodies for its AirAsia X (D7, Kuala Lumpur International) unit at present, Founder and Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes has said.

Fernandes was quoted last month as saying the widebody specialist was looking at B787s among other options for its fleet renewal and growth plans.

"Right now, we are still very much an Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) customer," he told NST Business. "We have no plan to buy from Boeing at the moment."

AirAsia X currently has ninety-six aircraft on order from Airbus including sixty-six A330-900s, twenty A330-300s, and ten A350-900s. The first A330neo are due in 2019.
