Air Belgium (KF, Brussels Charleroi) has announced it has secured its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Belgian civil aviation authority (Direction Générale Transport Aérien - DGTA).

The start-up plans to commence commercial flights between Brussels Charleroi and Hong Kong International in mid-April with ticket sales to open shortly.

Air Belgium is a privately funded operation and has secured four ex-Finnair A340-300s for its needs. Aside from Hong Kong, Air Belgium will add six other destinations on the Chinese mainland by May 2018.
