Tahiti Air Charter (Papeete) has secured its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the French civil aviation authority (Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile - DGAC) on April 4.

"We will be able to transport passengers from point A to point B, from Bora Bora to Maupiti or Huahine, to islands that are not entirely accessible," Flight Operations Manager Stéphane Rozain told TNTV. "This is where we will be complementary to Air Tahiti (VT, Papeete) for example."

The start-up took delivery of its first aircraft, Cessna (single turboprop) 208 Caravan 1 amphibian, F-OMAU (msn 20800591), in late March.

Owned by Tuanua Degage, Tahiti Air Charter also plans to carry out medical evacuations. With its first two aircraft, it hopes to start flights in June and eventually, to boost its fleet to six aircraft; all amphibious Cessna 208 Caravan capable of carrying 8 passengers.
