Far Eastern Air Transport (Taipei Sung Shan) has announced it has selected the B737-8 from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for its fleet renewal plans.

The Taiwanese carrier's General Manager Chengzhong Li said during a signing ceremony in Taipei that it will introduce a total of eleven aircraft of the type, the first two of which are due to arrive in November and December of 2019. Thereafter, FEAT will introduce two MAX each year thereby replacing its existing fleet of five MD-82s and three MD-83s.

The twinjets will tentatively feature eight seats in business class and 174 in economy and will be used to operate cross-strait routes as well as services to Northeast and Southeast Asia.

Aside from the McDonnell Douglas fleet, FEAT also operates two ATR72-600s. In terms of network, it plies domestic Taiwanese services as well as flights to mainland China, Cambodia, Japan, and Vietnam.
