CargoLogicAir (P3, London Stansted) has reaffirmed its commitment to the UK market on the back of reports in the German press that it is planning to relocate its operations to Germany.

Earlier this week, a report in the Deutsche-Verkehrszeitung (DVZ) business magazine claimed the UK-based carrier had begun shifting its main hub to Leipzig/Halle and had also applied for an Air Operator's Licence (AOL) from the German authorities. The move was reportedly being undertaken at the behest of co-parent Volga-Dnepr Group given its concerns about post-Brexit EU market access.

In a follow-up response, CargoLogicAir's chief executive David Kerr told ch-aviation that the carrier remains fully committed to its UK AOC and will shortly be announcing new routes to and from the country.

"We will continue to be highly engaged in the UK Government consultation process with Aviation interests around the EU exit," he said. "Our strategy has always been based on the need for the UK trade to be served by a high quality, ambitious and capable British cargo airline and CargoLogicAir will be that airline."

For its part, Volga-Dnepr Group has already confirmed its plans for a German AOC using Leipzig as a central hub. According to DVZ, the Russians have already recruited the former head of Qatar Airways cargo division, Uli Ogiermann, to assist in the process.

In December last year, Group Commercial Manager, Slava Shakov, said Volga-Dnepr aimed to have the certificate in place by the end of this year. In terms of equipment, three overhauled An-124s would then be added to its fleet to cater to EU-based demand.
