bmi british midland (Nottingham East Midlands) majority owner Sir Michael Bishop has taken Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt Intl) to court trying to enforce his right to exercise an option to sell his shares to Lufthansa. The German carrier and Mr. Bishop reportedly cannot agree on whether contractually agreed prerequisites for the option are fulfilled or not. The planned transaction has however already been cleared by the European Commission in case both parties find an agreement. In other news, its subsidiary bmi regional (II/Aberdeen) is in talks with Airbus about an employee shuttle contract for domestic flights between UK plants with ERJ-145s. bmi has entered into a bilateral codeshare agreement with TAM Linhas Aéreas (JJ/Sao Paulo Congonhas) covering TAM services between London Heathrow and Sao Paulo Guarulhos and domestic and international connection flights with bmi and TAM from both airports.
