LOT Polish Airlines (LO, Warsaw Chopin) has signed longterm leasing contracts with Avolon for three B787-9s. In a statement, the Polish carrier said the first two units will deliver from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) in May 2019 while the third is due in October 2019. All three contracts run for 12 years.

The new order boosts the Polish flag carrier's B787-9 order book to a total of seven, including one which has already been delivered.

The Polish flag carrier, which also operates eight B787-8s, bases its B787s mainly out of Warsaw Chopin for use in serving North America and Asia. In addition, it runs transatlantic routes out of Polish regional airports at Kraków John Paul II International and Rzeszow Jasionka, and will launch such routes out of Budapest in Hungary in early May 2018.

LOT is simultaneously expanding its narrowbody and regional fleet. The carrier has already taken delivery of two out of six ordered B737-8s. It is also adding six ex-Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras E195s in 2018, as well as two Dash 8-400s on at least six-month-long leases from Nordic Aviation Capital.
