The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has granted a tentative authorisation to operate interstate and foreign charter flights transporting persons, property, and mail to Scott Aviation (Chicago West), doing business as Silver Air (United States of America) (SIS, Fresno Yosemite).
The carrier applied for the authorisation in December 2017 in order to deploy its maiden Boeing Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) on interstate and international services out of Southern California. Silver Air wants to cater to the needs of VVIP passengers, such as executive management teams and big international music tours.
The jet in question, N834BZ (msn 29102), is owned by JetForce V LLC and was last used by First Virtual Air (San José, US). It is currently undergoing maintenance at Van Nuys. The leasing contract between the parties is subject to Silver Air receiving full authorisation to engage in interstate and foreign charters.
The agreement also authorizes Scott Aviation to charter the aircraft to third parties when not in use by Jet Force, with Scott Aviation retaining 15% of the revenue generated by the charter and the remaining 85% paid to Jet Force.
The DOT has found that Scott Aviation/Silver Air meets citizenship and financial conditions to operate services it has applied for.
Silver Air currently manages a fleet of smaller business aircraft, including two Gulfstream IV-SPs, one Gulfstream IV, one Falcon 2000, one Gulfstream G200, two Challenger 300s, five Cessna Aircraft Company Citation Xs, one Citation II, one Citation CJ2, one Citation CJ3, and one E500.
