Condor (DE, Frankfurt International) will take a decision regarding the renewal of its ageing widebody fleet by the end of 2018, Chief Airlines Officer at parent Thomas Cook Group Christoph Debus has said.

According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the renewal would cover the entire widebody fleet of the German leisure specialist, which currently includes sixteen B767-300(ER)s. The average age of this subfleet is 22.7 years, the ch-aviation fleets module shows.

The carrier is evaluating both Airbus and Boeing aircraft, including both new and young second-hand units. Air Transport World has reported that the most likely options include A330s or A330neos from Airbus or B787s from Boeing.

The deliveries of the aircraft included in the new commitment could begin around 2021.

In terms of widebody equipment, Condor's group partner Thomas Cook Airlines UK (Manchester International) currently operates six A330-200s, while Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia (Copenhagen Kastrup) operates an additional A330-200 and three A330-300s.
