Gama Aviation (GMA, Farnborough) has announced it will move its maintenance facilities, currently located at Farnborough and Oxford Kidlington, to Bournemouth, at the same time nearly doubling the hangar space available to it and improving operational efficiencies.

The business charter specialist has leased 135,000 square feet (12,500 square metres) of hangar space in Bournemouth, compared to the combined 70,000 square feet it currently leases at Farnborough and Oxford.

"This investment in a large, secure and modern MRO facility removes the physical constraints on our [maintenance and support] business and is a powerful signal of our intent as we accelerate our growth strategy in Europe," CEO Marwan Khalek has said.

The relocation is expected to happen in the second half of the year and will cost the carrier some USD2 million.

The restructuring will not affect Gama Aviation's European division which will remain headquartered at Farnborough. Other facilities at Aberdeen Dyce, Glasgow International, Fairoaks, Doncaster/Sheffield, and Jersey will also continue to operate without any changes.
