Alaska Seaplanes (J5, Juneau International) has been granted a licence to operate scheduled and non-scheduled flights between the United States and Canada by the Canadian Transportation Agency, paving the way for the Alaskan regional specialist to launch its maiden international services.

The carrier intends to launch a 3x weekly scheduled service connecting its main base in Juneau International, the capital of Alaska, with Whitehorse International in the Canadian state of Yukon. The flights will be operated with PC-12 equipment. The route will be seasonal and the carrier has thus far committed to serving the market for three years.

Currently, there is no direct air link between the capitals of Yukon and Alaska. Both airports see exclusively domestic traffic.
