EAT Leipzig (QY, Leipzig/Halle) has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit (FACP) as it prepares to launch direct scheduled full-cargo services between Leipzig/Halle and New York JFK.

"EAT plans to begin operating scheduled all-cargo air service between Leipzig, Germany, and John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, New York, as soon as it has obtained all necessary governmental approvals. EAT requests expedited approval of this application so that marketing and sale of the proposed services can begin without delay," the German cargo specialist has said in the application.

The carrier has not disclosed its planned frequency nor whether it intends to deploy its A300-600(F)s or B757-200(PF)s on the route.

EAT Leipzig is a fully-owned subsidiary of Deutsche Post, the privatised German postal service.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, New York JFK already has significant direct cargo connectivity to the European Union with scheduled cargo flights operated by Qatar Airways, Asiana Airlines (both to Brussels National), Lufthansa Cargo, AeroLogic (both on behalf of Lufthansa to Frankfurt International), CAL Cargo Air Lines, ASL Airlines Belgium (both to Liège), Cargolux (to Luxembourg), and Emirates (to Maastricht).
