IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi International) is planning to open a base at Vijayawada International Airport, the airport's director, G. Madhusudhana Rao, has revealed.

“IndiGo has recently made a request to have a base for four Airbus A320 aircraft. It wants to station the four 180-seater aircraft from September 1 and schedule its services accordingly. We have processed the request and forwarded it to the higher office,” Rao told The Hindu.

The Indian LCC currently operates 49 weekly departures out of the southeast Indian city to each of Bengaluru International, Chennai, and Hyderabad International.

Other IndiGo bases include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru International, Chennai, Delhi International, Hyderabad International, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai International, and Pune.
