Swoop (Hamilton, ON) says it anticipates starting flights to the United States on or about October 11 of this year.
The start-up said in an application to the US Department of Transportation for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit and Exemption Authority that its initial transborder operations will include services between points in Canada and Las Vegas, Orlando, Tampa International, Fort Lauderdale International, and Phoenix.
A unit of WestJet (WS, Calgary), Swoop will start regular flights on June 20 connecting Hamilton, ON, Abbotsford, Edmonton International, Winnipeg International, and Halifax. It will add a total of six B737-800s from WestJet to its fleet by the end of the year.
