Air Odisha (Bhubaneshwar) has inaugurated the Jagdalpur-Raipur-Vishakhapatnam service, the maiden scheduled route for Jagdalpur and the first intra-state service in Chhattisgarh, Pioneer has reported.

The route will be operated 6x weekly with Beech 1900D aircraft under the auspices of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN), a government-financed initiative to support scheduled traffic to un- and underserved airports across India.

Air Odisha has also won route authorities for two other intra-state routes in Chhattisgarh, a state in central India, namely Ambikapur-Bilaspur and Raigarh-Raipur.

The carrier has also been awarded routes connecting Raipur with each of Jharsuguda and Utkela in the neighbouring state Odisha. The first of these two routes has already been launched is operated 6x weekly.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Raipur is, at present, the only airport in Chhattisgarh with scheduled traffic.
