Air North (4N, Whitehorse International) has launched a new service to Mayo in northern Canada on June 26, 2018, the maiden scheduled route for the city, ch-aviation schedule analysis has revealed.

The route from the carrier's main gateway at Whitehorse International will be initially operated 4x weekly using ATR42-300 equipment, including one weekly service with a stopover at Dawson City. Eventually, the carrier intends to increase the frequency to 5x weekly.

Air North Chief Commercial Officer Benjamin Ryan has told CBC that the new route has been launched in response to the growing demand from mining companies for flights to their sites in Yukon.

"As these mine projects develop, mining companies and their sub-contractors need to efficiently access mine sites in the area. Air North added Mayo to our network in response to that demand," Ryan has said.
