Anisec Luftfahrt (Vienna) will commence operations under the LEVEL virtual low-cost carrier brand on July 17, the IAG International Airlines Group has confirmed.

In a statement, the European carrier conglomerate said Anisec Luftfahrt would base four A321-200s out of Vienna from where it will gradually roll out scheduled flights to 14 destinations.

“We are launching this new shorthaul subsidiary to provide Austrian consumers with more flight choices across Europe," Willie Walsh, IAG chief executive, said. "These flights will be branded as LEVEL to build upon the huge success of our new long-haul low-cost operation. We will serve the Austrian market with low-cost, reliable flights and will initially create around 200 new jobs at our Vienna base."

The carrier will serve Palma de Mallorca and London Gatwick in its initial phase of operations with Barcelona El Prat, Malaga, Venice Marco Polo, Olbia, Ibiza, Paris CDG, Milan Malpensa, Dubrovnik, Larnaca, Alicante, Valencia Manises, and Bilbao to follow through August 13.

LEVEL operations will continue to be performed by three different carriers, Anisec, OpenSkies (BOS, Paris Orly) and Iberia (IB, Madrid Barajas) for the time being.
