Israir (6H, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) has commenced scheduled charter flights to Haifa thus marking the resumption of regular passenger service to Israel's third largest city.

According to schedule data at hand, Israir has been offering weekly return flights between Haifa and Larnaca, Cyrpus, using ATR72-500 aircraft. The service, which will graduate to 2x weekly from July 5 onwards, will run through until September 30.

Despite its economic prominence, Haifa airport has been unable to attract longterm scheduled traffic with TUS Airways (U8, Larnaca) its last large-scale operator to run regular international flights. On its withdrawal in late 2017, the Cypriot carrier blamed the airport's restricted operating hours (closure is at 2000L), high airport fees, and problems with passport control.
