United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) has announced it has placed orders to purchase twenty-five E175s and four new B787-9s. The carrier said in a statement it expects to take delivery of the Embraer Regional Jets in 2019 while the Boeing widebodies are due in 2020.

United intends to use the EMB-175s to replace twenty-five CRJ700s currently being flown by its United Express partners. Concerning the B787 Family, United operates twelve B787-8s, twenty-five -9s, and has firm commitments with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for fourteen B787-10s.

Gerry Laderman, United’s senior vice president of finance and acting chief financial officer, said the carrier will also continue to evaluate opportunities to purchase used aircraft.
