GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes (G3, São Paulo Congonhas) has announced it has expanded and modified its B737 MAX order portfolio.

In a statement issued during the 2018 Farnborough Air Show, the Brazilian budget carrier said it had placed new orders for fifteen additional B737-8s with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) while at the same time, converting thirty existing B737 MAX order slots into B737-10s.

"This new order reflects our strategic policy of reducing operating costs by operating a standardized fleet and a large route network, permitting GOL to continue to lower the cost of air travel across Brazil and add new destinations," Paulo Kakinoff, CEO of GOL Airlines, said. "We are confident that the B737 MAX 10 will offer significant competitive advantages for GOL on high-density routes and in airports with slot constraints."

The new order included, Gol's B737 MAX order book now reaches 135 aircraft of which one B737 MAX 8 has thus far been delivered out of an anticipated total of five for 2018. Plans are to incorporate the MAX 10 into the fleet beginning in 2022.

Gol also operates twenty-six B737-700s and ninety-one B737-800s on scheduled flights covering 68 destinations across Brazil, Suriname, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, the United States, the Dominican Republic, Chile, and Uruguay.
