Volga-Dnepr Group and its UK-based affiliate, CargoLogicAir (P3, London Stansted), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Liège Bierset Airport over the development of a regional cargo hub at the Belgian metropolitan airport.

According to a statement issued on July 18, the move will take place over the next three to five years.

With the anticipated increase in traffic from both the Russian and UK carriers, so the airport will ensure there is provision to handle up to 30 cargo flights per week, including special cargo which has seen an upsurge in demand. It will also avail ground handling, warehousing and office space for an operations control room. Aircraft will also be supported by in-situ maintenance facilities.

Liège airport will support both carriers in opening up new routes through the opening of communication channels with relevant government authorities both in Europe as well as globally.

“The development of a European hub in Liège will support our existing network, boost our cargo services, covering major catchment areas of Europe for the convenience of our customers," David Kerr, CEO of CargoLogicAir said. "We will be able to guarantee high-end services based on a reliable partnership with Liège airport.”

Volga-Dnepr Group currently serves Liège via its AirBridgeCargo (RU, Ulyanovsk Vostochny) and Atran (V8, Moscow Vnukovo) subsidiaries offering connectivity to various points across Continental Europe, the Russian Federation, and Scandinavia. For its part, CargoLogicAir connects Liège with Moscow Sheremetyevo.
