SkyWest Airlines (OO, Salt Lake City) has won the Essential Air Service (EAS) contract for Prescott, AZ, and will connect the city with each of Denver International and Los Angeles International.
The carrier will receive a USD3.98 million annual subsidy during the contract lasting from August 1, 2018, through August 30, 2020.
SkyWest will operate a total of 12 weekly departures using 50-seater CRJ200 equipment under the United Airlines code and United Express brand.
Prescott has not seen any scheduled services since March 27, 2018, when Great Lakes Airlines (Cheyenne), the previous EAS provider at the airport, abruptly shut down its flight operations. The regional specialist had been previously operating 12x weekly to Los Angeles. It was awarded the contract in 2017 with an annual subsidy of USD2.8 million. The airline was supposed to operate the route with an E120 aircraft but deployed a Beech 1900D instead.
Other airlines which tendered for the Prescott EAS contract were Advanced Air, California Pacific Airlines, Boutique Air, Key Lime Air, Mokulele Airlines, and Silver Airways.
