Air Tanzania (TC, Dar es Salaam) has begun scheduled B787-8 operations following the deployment into service of 5H-TCG (msn 64249) on Sunday, July 29.

The brand new twinjet, which was delivered direct from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) at the beginning of the month, is currently being used to operate domestic services from Dar es Salaam to each of Mwanza and Kilimanjaro.

Government has already signalled its intention to use the jet to open up new routes to Mumbai International in India and Guangzhou in China in the coming months. It has also tentatively committed to a second aircraft of the type whose delivery date is set for January 2020.

Air Tanzania also operates three Dash 8-400s on flights to eleven cities around Tanzania as well as to Moroni International in the Comoros. It will also begin a 4x weekly service to Entebbe, Uganda (via Kilimanjaro) on August 26) followed by a 3x weekly service to Bujumbura (via Kigoma) on August 30. Other planned regional destinations include Kinshasa N'Djili, Lubumbashi, Harare International, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta, Lagos, and Accra.
