ADI Aerodynamics (Pontiac Oakland County International) has announced it has now formally rebranded as California Pacific Airlines (San Diego McClellan Palomar) with the first flights under the name to be conducted from September 1 onwards.

Following repeated failures in securing its own Air Carrier Certificate (ACC) from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), CPAir founder Ted Vallas acquired ADI in November last year for an undisclosed sum.

The Michigan-based carrier said in a statement that the rebranding would apply to all of its operations including Essential Air Service (EAS) routes currently operated between Pierre and Watertown, SD in South Dakota and Denver International in Colorado.

In a related development, CPAir, as it is colloquially known, recently signed a lease agreement with McClellan-Palomar Airport in San Diego McClellan Palomar which will serve as the airline's US West Coast base.

"We should be announcing our initial service points, schedule and fares in the next week or so for the west coast operation," CPA's Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, Mickey Bowman, said adding that hiring for pilots and mechanics would begin shortly.

"We have set a target of November 1 for our first flights from Carlsbad."

Operationally, CPAir will employ a fleet of E145s of which one, N286SK (msn 145443), has already been rebranded into CPAir's livery.
